Fisheries Awareness Day - Athlone Lough Ree April 25th

The fisheries awareness day for Athlone/Lough Ree area took place from 2-6pm on Saturday last. Luckily the weather was fine and a good crowd turn out. On display were live trout and coarse fish from a local river. Also on display were macro-invertebrates from a local river. Coosan Anglers assisted in the display. They also had boats on hand. ShRFB staff and the local anglers demonstrated to the local children how to tie fly, cast, and showed them the basics of fishing in general. There was various angling literature on display also. John Devanney provided a barbecue for the hungry anglers on the day!
