Take a friend fishing at
Mountshannon on April 25th, 2009
In spite of the weather of persistent
heavy showers the night before and early morning, there was a great turnout for
the “Take a Friend Fishing Event”. The event took place at 10am in the boat
harbour in the scenic, tranquil location of Mountshannon where 23 young anglers
participated in the event.
The angling within the group experience
ranged highly from very experienced to young novices.
Young anglers
were very enthusiastic about the event and showed great potential to becoming
good anglers for the future. The Mountshannon Angling Club provided great
support for these young and up-and-coming anglers.
As part of the event, there was a small
competition which was won by Donnacha Geharty. Donnacha won the competition by
landing a whopping 65cm pike.
The event finished up at about
lunchtime. All participants retreated to Cois na habhna where the Prize Giving
took place. Food and drinks were provided to all the kids and a great day was
had by all. And the rain kept off!

Take a Friend fishing Lough
Bridget East Clare on May 4th, 2009
The
Tulla And District Anglers held a “Take a Friend Fishing” on the Shores of Lough
Bridget on Saturday between 12 noon and 2pm. This event was very well attended
despite the unpredictable weather conditions
All angling pegs on the ShRFB angling
catwalk structure were taken up with anglers – both young and old. One young
angler caught 8 roach during this 2 hour festival. All young anglers enjoyed
the experience.
Mr. Michael Daly of the Tulla and
District Anglers said that it was better attended last year probably because the
weather was a lot better.
The BBQ provided by the angling Club and
Mr. Michael Cleary of the ShRFB was enjoyed and most appreciated by all and
added to this very enjoyable event. Same again next Year!

Take a friend fishing on
Doon Lake on May 4th, 2009
It was a wet, grey morning on Niall
O’Donnell Shore of Doon Lake. However, embracing the outdoors with the complete
coarse angling kit were veterans Ian Kelsley and Kevin Leahy.
This “Take a Friend Fishing “activity
took place from 10am to 4pm. People were very welcome to try out the coarse
angling experience using the lads’ extensive range of equipment. People had a
go at this out of curiosity for a little while between showers. However, next
year were hoping for more favourable weather conditions.
